Comfy, thrown together days

I am normally dressed in all vintage/second-hand these days, so today's outfit is a little break from the norm. I don't normally shop in High street shops much anymore, for the following reasons. A - I can't really afford it now I'm a full-time mum (but probably wouldn't spend the money if I did). B- I'd rather wear something a little unique and not look like every other Tom, dick and Harry. And C - I just love everything about vintage clothing...the history, the one-off nature, the style, the imagery it conjures up in the mind and the fact you are recycling too. Today's outfit it abit of a comfy jumble, I just threw it on as I needed to get out of the house quickly to the post office. Sometimes outfits are better when you don't look too 'put' together.

I grew up with a mum who shopped in charity shops, bought our non-branded trainers from a discount shop ("but muuuum....I really want a pair of Nike ones!!") and did the food shop at Kwik-Save and Aldi (before it became popular). Oh the embarrassment of taking my P.E. Kit to school in an Aldi carrier bag....(teenagers are ridiculous). But I thank her for all of that now - I am definately my mother's daughter.

Anyway, these trousers were £3 on the sale rail in H&M, so I would have been bonkers not to get them. Plus it feels like has you are wearing your PJ's...which is a win in my books! They will look great too in the summer with my old battered Indian leather sandals, a vintage tan bag and a little top (and maybe a nice tan. Oooh yes, a tan. Please.)

My hubby has just started to work from home on a Wednesday (in our attic/office), so I grabbed him quickly to take a couple of photos for me this afternoon. I'm not very good at posing for photo's (as you can see by my hilarious pics in this post) I normally just pull a cheesy grin, but I'm trying to be more *sophisticated* (haha).

The morning started off a little different. After a mini meltdown due to (toddler) boredom, we grabbed our waterproofs and wellies, and walked to the nearest park.

As is with old little parks, stuck in the middle of a bunch of suburban homes (think stepford wives with perfectly manicured front lawns), they are often totally empty - which means no waiting your turn for the swings. Hurrah!

Recently they trimmed some hedgerow back in the park, and I discovered one of the homes had a bunch of goats living at the end of their garden - who'd have thought it!

Luna loves going over to say hello. Who needs an animal sanctuary when you've got goats at the park eh. The homeowners also have a classic Volkswagon Beetle parked in the driveway....my kinda people.

The rest of day has been a blur of wrapping, posting and photographing for my vintage shop. As much as can be done with a toddler clung to your leg.

This beauty is being uploaded to my shop tonight, once my tazmanian devil is safely tucked up in bed.

Happy hump-day! X

Just another manic Monday...

So, today I had planned to write a sort of "day in the life" post, but Luna had other ideas. She may only be 20 months old, but she is definately in the throws of the "terrible two's" ....*stuffs another chocolate quickly into mouth*....more on that later.

Normally on a Monday morning, we would go to one of the local playgroups, but they are still all closed due of the Christmas holidays. So, after our dog (Percy, the miniature Dachshund who thinks he is a Rottweiler) decided to wee on Luna's bedroom carpet and then she decided to tip her orange juice all over my beloved antique kilim rug....I managed to squeeze in a couple of minutes to package some orders for my vintage shop.

This beautiful 1960's cherry Afghan suede jacket had just sold and needed wrapping. These coats are abit of an addiction for me. I have a couple in my personal collection, and find it so hard to part with them!

Here she is wrapped and ready to be sent to her new home in America. It's not always an easy job when you've got a toddler tugging at your leg repeatdly, shouting "mummy mummy mummy!!" But I really try and wrap up my shop items with a lot of care and love.

I run my little online vintage shop from my attic at home. It also doubles as my husband's office (he recently started working from home 2 days a week), so as you can imagine it's jam-packed!

So after what seemed like 5000 hours, we managed to get out the door and walked into the city centre to post my parcels and run some errands (we are a 10 minute walk from the city, very handy). That's where all plans ended and went out the window. Cue an hour of tantrums, screaming, tears, a couple of layers of clothing down (Luna not me) and we were back home, with none of errands completed or parcels posted.

Cue another hour of tears and tantrums and nap refusal (anything but the dreaded nap refusal!! *cries into hands dramatically*) and here we are......watching Peppa Pig, with a shoe on her head.

Anything for a 5 minute break, right? I'm hoping she will have an early night and I can collapse on the sofa and not move for approximately 3.5 hours.

I won't share a photo of today's outfit,  because frankly, I looked like a bedraggled wizard (and not in good way).

I'm off to make a cuppa and eat some more leftover Christmas chocs before I lose the will to live.

Much love! X

Here we go!

Hello, blogging world!

So, I've decided to join you. As a younger lady, I followed many a fashion/style/vintage blog but never got round to joining in myself. I joined Instagram several years ago after I lost interest in blogs, and loved being inspired by many a creative around the world and sharing my love of vintage fashion through my personal photos. I realised some time ago, that I had started to use my Instagram a little like a personal blog, and I would often write lengthy posts under my picture and then realise I'm rambling, and delete most of it! I suppose I find writing very therapeutic.

After one such rambling post about my crazy morning *attempting* to get out the door with my toddler to look for vintage treasures at the local car boot sale (and my subsequent loot), An Instagram pal (the gorgeous and super stylish Nat Wallers) mentioned that she would happily read a blog about my daily adventures with my daughter, Luna and a peek at my 'fabulous finds'. So here I am (only 8 months late, Nat 😉). I'm pretty awful at technology...but you never learn until you try, hey?

So a little about me. I'm Georgie, mum to my 20 month old daughter Luna Rose and wife to my lovely Darren (Daz). I'm a full-time mum since having my daughter, but have recently set up my little vintage clothes shop over at Etsy www.lunarosevintageshop.etsy.com It's something I had wanted to do for years, and is still in the early stages, but I am SO happy that I get to do something I love so much. I adore vintage clothing, especially anything dreamy from the 60's and 70's, rummaging for bargains - car boot sales, charity shops, flea markets, eBay, skips (!!) you name it.

Anyway, I'm going to leave it there for my first post....thanks for stopping by.

Happy New Year!
